NDIS Appeals
What is NIDS Appeals?
NDIS Appeals is a service to help people, if they wish to appeal a decision made by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
NDIS Appeals can support you to get a fresh review of a decision that you are unhappy with.
WeStand Advocacy Services Inc (WASI) can help you with NDIS Appeals NDIS Appeals are in place to make sure that every individual with disability and others affected by reviewable decisions of the NDIA, can access support in seeking review of those decisions in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
What is AAT?
The AAT holds the power to examine a myriad of decisions made by NDIS, for example, persons who are able to participate in the NDIS and the types of support to be provided to NDIS participants.
WASI NDIS Appeals Coordinator can help you if:
● You are a person with disability and you are unhappy with a decision made with regards to the NDIS
● You were chosen as a participant’s supporter and you need advice with the AAT processes
● You are a professional or you work for a service in the field and you would like to make referrals for advocacy assistance or assistance with an appeal to the AAT The WASI’s NDIS
Appeals Coordinator’s job is to:
● Assist applicants with self-advocacy where possible or provide individual advocacy support by developing and implementing a plan developed with the applicant’s input, and is therefore tailored to suit the need of the applicant;
● Support applicants with navigating the process of seeking an Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) of NIDS decisions, such as preparation of documents, attending conferences and hearings;
● Provide public information about the the availability and role of the support person; and
● Ensure a referral to the Central Assessment Provider (a specialist legal advisor) where legal issues are highlighted to determine whether or not legal services will be provided (for complex or novel legal cases)
